Peter, this book encompasses your amazing journey, and I salute you for sharing it in published form. I began with the same background as you, and in many ways I'm still searching. Your book gives food for thought, and opens the mind to another whole side of God, the God who I was always taught punishes, and who has the ability to send you to hell, where you burn for ever. I too was struggling with this concept as God is love, isn't he? Therefore, should that love not over ride everything to do with God. So whatever I believe or don't believe about the bible, about Darwin's theories, about spiritualism, about anything, the arch over all should be love. There's a saying, "Love makes the world go round", and I believe that in truly finding who God is, I'm going to find an enveloping love and understanding, not punishment and abandonment. I'm going to read your book again, with thoughtful consideration, and I'm sure I'll be amazed all over again. I'm also going to share your book with family and friends. This book for me is like the switch on the railway tracks - once you come to it your journey takes on a whole new direction. Before I read this book I was overwhelmed and just a little bit lost, I knew I was on a spiritual journey but had somehow lost the road map (if i ever had it to begin with). Once I decided to break free from the restrictions of the religion I was indoctrinated with I, like Peter, ventured into atheism for a while but the emptiness of it left me unfulfilled. And then, also like Peter, spured by the loss of a loved one, I began my search for true spirituality. However I soon got swamped by the amount of information out there and didn't know which of the many 'gurus' were for real. Then I came across this book and felt I had been blessed (not by a man in a white beard sitting in the clouds mind you). Peter has been on such an epic journey - from the extreme end of religiousness to such a depth of understanding of our true spirituality, and by sharing his journey with us we can learn from that even if our individual journeys haven't been quite so epic. The author's extensive research into the true essence of life, what is beyond our physical form - and within it, is summarised in a very accessible manner - I almost feel like I found a cheatsheet ;) But the thing that I am most grateful for is that it has inspired me to continue my spiritual journey, but I do it now with more clarity and calm. Thank you Peter.
